Pumps: buying guide and questions
How to choose a pump
- Flow and head
- Start from the required flow (m³/h) and total head (m): static lift plus friction losses in pipes, valves and fittings. The pump's duty point should sit near its best efficiency point.
- Pump type
- End-suction or monoblock for general water; split-case for large flow; vertical multistage for high pressure; submersible for wells, sumps and sewage; self-priming where the pump sits above the water level.
- Liquid
- Clean water, hot water, sea water, chemicals or solids: this decides the materials (cast iron, bronze, stainless steel) and the seal (gland packing or mechanical seal).
- Motor
- Power (kW), voltage (single-phase 220 V or three-phase 400 V), speed (2 or 4 pole) and enclosure (IP55).
- NPSH
- Check the net positive suction head available against the pump's NPSH required to avoid cavitation.
What is the price of a water pump in Bangladesh?
It depends on pump type, flow, head, motor power, materials and brand. Send the flow, head, liquid and power supply and we propose a pump with a quotation within 24 hours.
What is the difference between a monoblock and an end-suction pump?
In a monoblock pump the impeller sits directly on the motor shaft, so it is compact and cheap; a long-coupled end-suction pump has a separate bearing frame and coupling, which is easier to maintain and suits larger duties.
Which pump do I need for a high-rise building?
Usually a vertical multistage booster set with variable-speed drives to keep a constant pressure on all floors.
Which brands do you supply?
